"Stronger Every Day"

General Info

Our Mission Values that Matter The hallmark of our care is the emphasis we put on the coaching of patients throughout recovery. Indeed, for healing to occur and to occur quickly, the mind, body, and spirit of both the patient and the therapist must be put to use. Ours is a "can-do" environment, and each day begins anew with the enthusiasm we bring to our patients and our jobs. This positive atmosphere aids in the recovery of our patients. Physical therapists teach people how to take care of themselves. “If you give a man a fish, he eats for a day. If you teach him how to fish, he eats for the rest of his life.” Treating You Like Family Our clinic offers quick and immediate treatment in a caring environment. Our patients are treated as family with the same competence and skill we would employ if the patient were one of our loved ones. Returning patients to normal activities as soon as possible while meeting their personal needs and desires, is a primary part of each patient's plan of care. The purpose of our clinic is to provide our staff with a vehicle for professional and financial growth. The support offered by the clinic will be directly proportional to the employee's efforts, efficiency, and loyalty in helping the clinic grow and achieve its goals. The clinic fulfills its goals by providing care for our patients, and financial stability and security for our staff. We also gain satisfaction by having a clinic that is well known for its care and independence – and by being a clinic involved in the community as an educator in schools and businesses and as an active participant in community service groups. Our Beliefs At McDonald Physical Therapy, we are dedicated to: Bringing positive energy to everyone. Being organized and efficient. Communicating with empathy and encouragement. Seeking continuous improvement. Serving others.

Healthy Recovery Given proper training and fitness, a great many of the disabilities we work with could have been prevented. Thus, a large part of our service to our patients is in teaching you how to stay well and safe from injury. At McDonald Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation Center, we use scientific methods to determine your fitness level and what types of activities you need to perform to achieve an optimum level of fitness, whether you are able-bodied or may have a physical disability. Many of our programs include design and supervision of individualized conditioning plans that increase overall fitness, range of motion, and muscle strength. For example, studies have shown that older adults reduce their risk of falling by 47% after completing a short period of movement training, and we can design a workout program specifically for you upon your discharge. Pain Management At our state-of-the-art facility, we can pinpoint the precise cause of your pain and determine the treatment program necessary to alleviate your discomfort. We can also get you started on a customized exercise program to help enhance your mobility and improve your overall health Enhancing Performance Assisting athletes in enhancing their on-field performance is another hallmark of McDonald Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation Center. Through coaching high school sports, participation on a national champion football team at Notre Dame, and working with professional and amateur athletes, Fran McDonald has encouraged better performance from players.

Amenities
The best equipment, the best therapy Helping you toward wellness is the primary goal of our Physical Therapists, PTA's and Aides. We believe that from the moment you walk in the door your path toward wellness begins. To that end, we have designed a state-of-the-art facility to help you on your journey. Covering over 13,000 square-feet, our main facility in South Bend was built to serve the needs of recovering patients and athletes of all skill levels. We installed the latest in therapeutic equipment, including: Cybex Orthotron for multijoint testing and rehabilitation. BAPS Boards for balance training. Gravitron and Stairmaster for strengthening. To help enhance your athletic performance or to increase your overall fitness level, we constructed a complete fitness center equipped with: Stationary bikes, treadmills & stepmills. Variable Cybex and BodyMaster resistance equipment. Free weights. You receive complete instruction on the safe use of each apparatus from your physical therapist, who will work with you personally to help you achieve your goals. Once you've completed your therapy with McDonald, you can continue to use our facility as a gym, so the machines you work on will be the same that helped you recover or improve in the beginning. For the athletes, students, faculty, and staff at the University of Notre Dame, we offer use of our facility on campus. Our facility is located on the second floor of St. Liam Hall.
