- Dental CareYour pet's dental appointment will start with a quick exam with the doctor where you are encouraged to mention any worrisome issues (i.e. possible mouth pain, eating habits, possible extractions or infections) regarding your pets mouth. The veterinarian will also go over the process with you at that time and set a pick up time for your pet. Pets need a comprehensive oral exam, & a thorough deep cleaning (teeth + beneath the gums), scaling, & polishing. This always requires sedation as the process is very involved, complex and time consuming (esp. if extractions are indicated).
- VaccinationAt Greenwood our doctors will create a balanced schedule for the needed protection for your pet, while not over-vaccinating. If you're unsure of your pets vaccine history, and your pet has received vaccinations from a different veterinary care provider, it is always best to bring in documentation to review with our veterinarian to determine if your pet is due for any new vaccines.
- Nutritional Counseling
- Comprehensive ExaminationApart from routine health exams, keeping your pets vaccines up to date is another major shield in keeping your pets free from diseases. We at Greenwood Animal Hospital understand that not every pet requires the same series of vaccines. This is why our veterinarian will tailor a specific vaccine regimen for your pet based on the pets age & lifestyle.
- Parasites Treatment and ControlWe have all dealt with fleas one way or another. Some of us lucky ones have only had the pleasure of dealing with picking and keeping current with flea prevention on their pets. While some of us other unlucky pet owners have had to tackle a flea problem in our home.
- Heart Disease TreatmentX-rays can allow the doctors to examine not just bones, but also lungs, heart, abdomen (stomach area), mouth & head, and almost every other area in the body. These are often used to diagnose an illness or to monitor existing conditions. Some of the common causes you pet may need an X-ray taken is for a fractured bone, joint problems, ingestion of a foreign object, heart disease, any many more.
- Periodontal Disease TreatmentVeterinary visits once a year should be paired with home dental care to encourage healthy teeth and gums, and in turn overall pet health. Just like humans, brushing your pets teeth has proven to be the most significant way to maintain a good oral health. You should brush your pets teeth regularly -- this will dramatically decrease the development of gingivitis and periodontal disease. You may also pick up oral health promoting treats and foods in addition to regular brushing. We understand brushing your pet's teeth can be difficult, but you need to understand the benefits for your pets overall well-being. The best to accomplish this is by brushing your pets teeth from a young age so they learn to get used to the process!
