Outback Steakhouse, Johns Creek/Alpharetta - BAD!

This review isn't for the Roswell Outback here but for the brand new, not on yellowpages yet, in Johns Creek/Alpharetta, GA, corner of Jones Bridge Road/State Bridge Road.

Thursday, August 22nd, my boyfriend and I went to the new Outback in John's Creek/Alpharetta, GA. I ordered the featured 8 oz. prime rib, broccoli and sweet potato on the side. Specifically ordering the sweet potato on the side explaining to the waitress that I didn't like my meat tasting like cinnamon. I also ordered a lemon drop shooter with the entire rim sugared, again, very specific.

My boyfriend ordered a chicken/salmon combination griller.

Sure enough, after being very specific, my prime rib was served with the sweet potato on the same plate. Not wanting to ruin the evening by complaining, I cut off a rather large portion of the meat, tasted it but just couldn't stomach cinnamon tasting prime rib, so I called over our waitress and sent it back. About six minutes later, the exact piece of meat was returned to me on a hot plate, cold as ice after being washed off. Oh, did I mention, the lemon drop shooter, the rim was sugared, the size of a dime, not the entire rim.

My boyfriend's food was overcooked and dried out - just terrible. We paid our $77.71 bill and left, we did include a $10 tip for the waitress who was perfectly charming, we felt so bad for her. It was only after we left that we discovered that neither of us really enjoyed our meal and that we were only being polite as not to ruin the other's evening. With that I decided to write a letter informing Outback of our disappointing dining experience, first time ever being compelled to do so, NOT asking for a refund, discount or coupon - only asking them to take it for what is was worth and do better with the next customer.

The manager, calls me ... immediately, without apologizing for the sweet potato and prime rib being served incorrectly to begin with, and says to me "We don't wash our meat. I know for a fact it was a different piece of meat" - now, not only do I know but my boyfriend knows that it was the same piece of meat, for a fact. So not only was an apology not offered for the incorrect service, I was basically called a liar. Not only was the food bad, the attempt at customer service was even worse.

40 minutes waiting on the food, served cold and incorrectly, burnt and overcooked - out of a $77.71 bill, we enjoyed the bread and the two beers my boyfriend had, everything else was extremely bad or mediocre and only eaten because we were so darn hungry for waiting so long.

DON'T GO TO THE OUTBACK IN JOHN'S CREEK. IF YOU DO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE BAD SERVICE/FOOD THEY ACCUSE YOU OF BEING A LIAR!!!!!!

Gluten-free Friendly

Franchise-type restaurants of this type generally are limited by the home-office as to how good they can actually be. However, the Roswell Outback has gone above and beyond by adding a repertoire of gluten free dishes that are prepared as well or better as their corresponding menu items. Finally, my daughter with celiac's disease can eat the "same" things as her sister (mac n' cheese, or chicken fingers and french fires, naturally) without getting 2nd-class treatment. Truly a treat for her and for us, as parents.
