First time, for my 54th birthday... Love the ambiance, the decor, the wood work, the colors and the animals seem to all be looking at me... Very friendly, family owned... class act... The food was very good, we both ordered steaks, potatoes, salad, veggies and it was all good. I even loved the bathroom... rustic, great tile job, the sink with the water spout and the foaming soap...even the toilet paper was not wafer thin, like most places. All in all, a very nice experience in a local restaurant... didn't have to drive 45 minutes to enjoy a quality meal... Will definately be going back, several times.... Happy in San Tan Valley

Won't go back

Not a good experience and won't be going back.

Weekday evening and place was almost empty at 6:30 P.M. That was a clue. For starters, I requested pesto dressing on my salad....got balsamic. Waitress was pleasant but not very attentive. When I finally got her attention and asked about the dressing she said 'they mix balsamic vinegar with pesto'... > it was ALL balsamic vinegar, made your eyes squint. Husband had soup, watery and just OK. Glad it came with meal, would not have been happy paying extra for either a salad or soup. When we were served the salad and soup, she also put out a bread basket with 2 mini rolls. I'm talking mini.

When our entree was served, we asked for a refill of the bread basket. Waitress told us there is a charge of 50 cents per roll to refill. We were shocked. We have never been to a restaurant where a charge was placed on refill of breadbasket. The owner was talking to patrons at the table in back of us who had a problem, then he came to our table, introduced himself and asked if everything was OK. Husband questioned him about the 50 cents charge and he confirmed that this was true, said he was tired of seeing customers not finish and tired of throwing out food. He is charging 50 cents a roll so customers eat what they pay for. He's NUTS!!! What a jerk.

Our entrees were 8 oz. Filet Mignon dinners. Steaks were good, nothing special, certainly not worth going back for. The place can get pricey with appetizer, dinner, drinks and ROLLS. Doesn't sound like a big deal but his attitude sealed the point...we won't be back.

I suspect from the lack of customers in the establishment on a weekday evening at dinner hour, it may not be long before it goes under. With his irritable attitude to his clientele, his cheapness, it shouldn't come as a surprise when he closes up.
