This pathetic excuse for a fair goes downhill more each year. $8 to get in, fine whatever. But the ticket prices for rides are absolute robbery. I'd have been better off getting mugged. Don't go in the evening hours because even though they advertise being open until 11:00 p.m. half the rides were completely closed by 9:00 and half the vendors were cleaning up and/or shutting down around the same time. By 9:30 there was almost nothing to do. The vendors are sleazy and annoying, constantly catcalling to potential customers. They are very scammy in attitude and off-putting. Security is non-existent and they actually have the balls-out nerve to charge you $5 for parking. WHAT?!? Food is cheap, greasy and priced like a 4-star restaurant. Absolutely a horrendous experience all around and very disappointing to say the least. Go a little further and try the Dutchess and/or Ulster fair instead. Much more to do, better hours, classier and overall less expensive for what you get. This place is just one giant scam that thrives solely on its tenure. Shameful.

My husband, daughter and I went to the Orange County Fair in Middletown on Saturday. It didn't even open until 2:00 p.m. when all of the other fairs, Ulster, Dutchess and Columbia, all open at 10:00 a.m. My husband and daughter both ate at the fair but I didn't. They were both ill from Saturday night on, with my 7 year old daughter vomiting violently all night. We all had to sleep all day Sunday because we were up all night Saturday. So much for family fun at the fair. We won't be going there again.
