Founded in 2003, INDATEL the Independent Alliances Telecom Group is a national industry consortium of state and regional fiber optic networks. The mission of this network of networks is to promote and support fiber optic networks owned by independent telecommunications companies through joint marketing and information sharing, as well as regulatory and technical educational advocacy.INDATEL specializes in providing fiber connectivity, especially in rural America. Its members are entrepreneurial companies driving technological innovation and creating economic growth through the development and deployment of next-generation networks and other competitive offerings.INDATEL connects a significant number of network assets. The combined membership connects 28 networks across 25 states, with ties to more than 500 rural local exchange carriers (RLECs) as the core of its network of networks. INDATELs collective 80,000 route miles of fiber connectivity reach into more than 5,000 communities, with POPs in 52 tier one markets. Within that network of networks, there are multiple data centers and access tandems, providing in-demand capabilities for their members carrier and enterprise customers.INDATELs brand signifies a team of wholesale carriers dedicated to providing best-in-class, cost-effective solutions in the markets they serve. INDATELs member networks have become increasingly interconnected with one another over time, such that the organizations combined fiber network footprint now covers a significant portion of the U.S., especially in the nations midsection.INDATELs mission is to leverage its members networks into a national fiber network presence with the best reach into rural markets. INDATEL started as the trade association INDATELgroup and eventually formed an LLC subsidiary, INDATELservices. It is now a single organization, INDATEL, with a new look and logo launched in 2013. INDATEL is a longtime active supporter of COMPTEL, the leading trade association representing competitive communications service providers and their supplier partners.
