      Established in 1847, The University of Iowa is a national research university. The university provides and attracts a variety of cultural opportunities, Big Ten athletic events, as well as a number of business endeavors. Situated in Iowa City, Iowa, it has research programs in genetics, hydraulics, and speech and hearing. In addition, it owns and operates university-owned teaching hospitals. The university's summer programs comprise summer session, youth programs, sports camps, writing festival and Iowa young writer's studio.
