WARNING - do not trust this Jewelry store!!!



I went to Jewelry by Rose to get a bracelet fixed, and a watch battery replaced on a moderately priced Swiss Army Watch. When i went to pick up my pieces later in the day, they happily handed them over to me and I paid. As I was walking out of the store i noticed by watch was not working. I asked them if they changed the battery, the woman behind the counter became extremely defensive and said "what do you mean it was working fine a minute ago". She took the watch into the back of the store and came back about 15 minutes later and said there was nothing she could do and that she needed to wait for the watch maker to come back on Monday. Due to her defensive nature, i had a feeling that something just wasn't right. I asked for a refund which they gave to me in cash, after paying for the battery with a credit card ($20 - a rip off to begin with). I had a feeling they had damaged my watch and questioned the 2 women who were working there. They immediately said that you can not damage a watch by changing the battery. They kept repeating it to me as if they were trying to convince themselves!!



The next day, i brought the watch to a reputable watch store in NYC, Tourneau. They confirmed that the reason why the watch was not working was because the last person that tired to change the battery, removed screws that should NOT have have been removed, and attempted to hammer the battery into the watch with such force, that they damaged the inside of the watch beyond repair.



Jewelry by Rose is not only unprofessional and rude, they are also overpriced, and completely unqualified. A true shame.
