I had a 30" maytag electric range serviced by Action Appliance today. Before the technician came out I learned the problem was a heating element or coil, not sure of exact name of part. Its located on the floor of the oven and turns a red-orange color when heating. I priced the part at $27.60 and communicated with a maytag repairman on line and was informed the repair is relatively simple and takes just a few minutes. The technician who gets paid $80 to "diagnose" the problem gets the money whether or not you choose to have it serviced. The maytag repairman I communicated with on line was correct. It only took 2 minutes for the repair, the technician informed me it would be $299.00. My lucky day I was going to receive a $25.discount. When he discovered my displeasure he made a call and it was further reduced to a price of $199.00. Also a 5 year warranty, however I noticed he wrote a 1 year warranty on my receipt. I feel I made a bad decision to have action appliance service my range. It was pay the $80 for the diagnoses and get nothing or pay the outrageous sum of $199.00 plus tax for the repair. I just posted my dissatisfaction on their customer survey and hope they will reconsider a reimbursement. I only want and expect a fair price. I plan to post any further feed back from action appliance. As of now fair warning prices are much to high.
