Since 1997, Abel Pet Clinic has been serving the people and pets of Elk Grove, Sacramento and surrounding areas. Dr. Byam started her own practice because she wanted to create the kind of small animal private practice that is different from the bigger hospitals, one where you feel valued, one where you will see the same doctor who will know you and your family, and not just a steady stream of strangers. We are a family here, and we care for your pets like YOU do. In addition to offering cutting edge diagnostics and treatments, we also will work with your family and your budget to find the best solution that works for you and your family. We have been established in Laguna West before Elk Grove was even incorporated as a city, and have solid roots here. Dr Byam is a member of the Laguna Sunrise Rotary Club, and gives back to the local community and the world, wherever there is the greatest need. She also volunteers for local animal rescue groups and at Best Friends Animal Society, and offers free exams for pets adopted from the shelter. She also is working very hard at establishing a local animal shelter in Elk Grove. Dr Rabinowitz also in her spare time works at animal shelters and has her own non-profit rescue group, providing veterinary services to some of the poorest residents in Sacramento. We are here, we care, and we believe there is still a place among the bigger, more expensive corporate practices for a small private practice with a very big heart. Special interest in small mammals, birds and exotics, including rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice and hamsters and reptiles.We also work with all rescue groups and have been the primary provider for Pugsavers and Pug Rescue of Sacramento(PROS). We also work with Greater California German Shepherd Rescue and New Ratitude Rat Terrier Rescue. If you have a breed rescue group you work with, tell them we provide free exams for rescue groups.
