General Info

My intense curiosity about how the body works and how we learn to move, which developed while studying modern dance as a child, motivated me to pursue a path to help teach people to understand how to move with greater ease. Being a full time dance student at Ohio State University afforded me a wide, broad view of movement. We were introduced to The Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais and Bartenfieff Fundamentals among other movement awareness modalities. After my undergraduate degree , I spent time participating in "becoming fit" through running and weight training. I also taught aerobic dance classes. (Yes, it was the 1980s!) I continued to seek to understand more fully how our bodies work and move and decided to go back to school to become a physical therapist. Understanding anatomy and kinesiology is part of the key to being the 'detective' in solving the pain and movement mysteries. I have been practicing physical therapy for over 30 years in a wide variety of settings with patients of all ages, including work in home care, rehabilitation facilities, an outpatient Spine Care Center, and private out patient orthopedic clinics as well as acute inpatient care. For the past 17 years I had the privilege of being a member of the Rehabilitation Services team at Mount Auburn Hospital, working in the outpatient physical therapy clinic. While at Mount Auburn, I developed a specialty in helping women and men who were in the process of recovering from cancer treatment. I was a member of the hospital Cancer Management Committee and helped countless numbers of patients who were referred to me by area surgeons and oncologists, and radiation oncologists. My eclectic, integrative approach, which includes therapeutic exercise, functional and postural awareness, as well as subtle manual therapies, is applicable to most any diagnosis. My approach is a conglomorate of the many various techniques I have studied and practiced over the years and the invaluable experience helping the thousands of patients with whom I have worked.
