Founded in 1867, The Boston Conservatory is an independent, private college that offers various graduate and undergraduate programs in music, dance and theater. It presents more than 200 performances every year by students, faculty and guest artists. The conservatory s Music curriculum includes traditional musical training, sight singing and music theory, as well as piano, percussion, guitar, harp and brass classes. The Boston Conservatory administers a variety of dance courses, such as choreography, improvisation, pedagogy, jazz and tap. It operates a library that provides a range of books, periodicals and electronic databases, as well as an online catalog. The conservatory also offers various courses in liberal arts.
